The Shootout.

2 April 2009 No Comments

Alex KovalevWhile Carey Price did his job last Saturday night against Buffalo, the shooters clearly did not. Two Canadiens tried to beat Ryan Miller five-hole along the ice. Miller made easy saves. Tomas Plekanec came closest to scoring by hitting the post with a stick side shot. We would have liked to see Chris Higgins or Sergei Kostitsyn in the shootout. Both players have great shots and quick releases.

Alex Kovalev has gone to his backhand deke once too often. Maxim Lapierre’s pee-wee move (slow-slow-fast-fast) is just plain silly (and he seems to distract himself more than the goaltender).

So, if Canadiens’ shooters are looking for a new move, we offer the following video clip.

Linus Omark, shown here playing for Sweden National Jr. team, is a 2007 4th round draft pick of the Edmonton Oilers. He currently plays professionally in the Swedish Elite League.
