Markov making progress.

Andrei MarkovMontreal Canadiens general manager/head coach Bob Gainey confirmed today after his team practiced in Boston that defenseman Andrei Markov, out with an undisclosed injury, skated for the second straight day back in Montreal.

However, Gainey said Markov is “out” for Game 2 of the Eastern Conference quarterfinal series between the Boston Bruins and the Habs scheduled for Saturday night at TD Banknorth Garden.

“He skated today again. But no indication that he’s ready to play,” said Gainey.
