Caps now in almost impossible hole.

If you would’ve told me 3 hours ago that Simeon Varlamov would give up just 1 goal, I would’ve made the assumption that the Caps would win. One problem… Henrik Lundqvist was in net for New York in their 1-0 win on Saturday. And he was on fire! Washington had so many chances (35 shots) to get one past King Henrik. Ovechkin again did all he could to try to lead his team to victory… 6 shots, 10 more shots blocked/missed, and 5 hits. But the rest of the Caps …

Is Cinderella in the Dance??

If you ask me, a ‘Cinderella’ in the Stanley Cup Playoffs can only be a team seeded 7 or 8. The most recent ones to make a run have been Edmonton (’06) and Anaheim (’03). They were seeded 8th and 7th, respectively. But we have an exception this year (6-seed St. Louis). Let’s see if the slipper fits one of these five teams…
Anaheim Ducks

The Ducks very well could be the best 8-seed in NHL history. They won the Cup 2 years ago, and still have most of the core from …

The day after…

I’d have to say… last night was one of the more exciting nights of hockey we’ve seen this season. The games in New York and Boston especially had a playoff feel.
Montreal/Boston
Please, please, please meet up in the 1st round! Although the refs let that game get out of hand last night, those first 2 periods were awesome with all the scrums & fights. The Lucic take down on Komisarek was cheap, but classic. Those two for sure have a rivalry within the rivalry. Ryan O’Byrne’s scrum with Shawn Thornton was …

Avery’s antics unleash Thomas’ inner tank.

There’s an alter ego that emerges from Boston Bruins goaltender Tim Thomas when provoked.
We’ve seen it occasionally when he’s taken a swipe or a shove at an opponent he thinks is taking too many liberties while driving to the Boston net. Leave it to New York Rangers überpest Sean Avery to cause Thomas to unleash that second personality — let’s call him “Tank” — 10 fold and bring on a reaction like none we’ve ever seen before.
Thomas, mild-mannered 90 percent of the time, explained his decision to go after Avery …

What was Sean Avery thinking?

I am at a loss of words after watching today’s game between the Boston Bruins and New York Rangers. With the Rangers trailing the Bruins 1-0 in the third period, with less than ten minutes left to play, Sean Avery decides that he should skate by Bruins goalie Tim Thomas during a commercial break and “inadvertently” clip the back of Thomas’ helmet with his stick.
I don’t understand the logic to why he did it. Maybe someone can explain it to me. His team is fighting for a playoff spot and …
