The story that everyone was concerned about yesterday in Pred Nation is one that probably won’t go away for a while. With former Pred owner Craig Leipold’s firing of Wild GM Doug Risebrough, many feel that he may target Pred’s GM David Poile (and subsequently Barry Trotz as coach) as a replacement.
News in the media shows a variety of opinions and facts. Brandon Felder got the ball rolling early yesterday after the announcement with a Tweet and a blog. John Glennon has uncovered a provision in the Predator’s sale …

During the course of the season ending interviews with Predator’s coach Barry Trotz and Jason Arnott, two of the more interesting topics covered were those of Steve Sullivan and Alexander Radulov.
It was no coincidence that Steve Sullivan’s return to the ice in January after a two year layoff that involved two separate back surgeries, was about the same time that the Predators turned their season around and made their run for the playoffs.
Playing in exactly half of the teams games (41), Sullivan scored 11 goals and added 21 …

Less than twelve hours after being eliminated from the NHL playoffs for the first time since 2003, Captain Jason Arnott met with reporters to reflect on the Nashville Predator’s season.
The Captain was obviously disappointed in the Preds’s early exit, “It’s disappointing because they (his team mates) really played hard all season long, right from the all-star break on. It was an up hill battle for the whole team”.
Arnott continued, “The injuries that we had put us that much shorter, and the guys didn’t get down about it. They played …

The Nashville Predators half-season attempt to come back from 14th place to make the playoffs came to an abrupt end as they lost to the Wild 8-4 on Friday night in Minnesota.
Thursday night’s amazing comeback win at Detroit appears to have been the Predators last stand before everything went against them in their final game with the Wild. The Predators never gave up under the worst of circumstances and showed the character and persistence that brought them to within one win of a playoff appearance despite being under-manned for the …

The Nashville Predators gave their fans the wildest emotional roller coaster ride in team history in route to a 4-3 shoot out win over the Detroit Red Wings at Joe Louis Arena.
Basically, in a win or end the season situation, the Preds allowed the Wings to stick a knife in the Nashville fan’s hearts and then they were able to kiss the wound and made it all better in the end.
This win was as inspiring as Tuesday’s loss to Chicago was demoralizing. I have never seen a team come back …

Joel Ward scored with just under a minute left in regulation, and Jason Arnott scored the winning goal in a shootout, as the Nashville Predators beat the Detroit Red Wings, 4-3, Thursday night at Joe Louis Arena.
More importantly for the Predators, the two points earned from the victory kept their slim playoff hopes alive.
Nashville used the victory to move into a virtual tie with the Ducks and St. Louis Blues for the final two playoff spots in the Western Conference. The Predators, Blues and Ducks each have 88 points.
The Predators have one game remaining …

I’d have to say… last night was one of the more exciting nights of hockey we’ve seen this season. The games in New York and Boston especially had a playoff feel.

Please, please, please meet up in the 1st round! Although the refs let that game get out of hand last night, those first 2 periods were awesome with all the scrums & fights. The Lucic take down on Komisarek was cheap, but classic. Those two for sure have a rivalry within the rivalry. Ryan O’Byrne’s scrum with Shawn Thornton was …

The Nashville Predators are on the mat with an open cut and the referee is starting the count. If the hockey season was a boxing match, that would describe the seriousness of the the Predators situation as their playoff hopes appear dim after Tuesday’s 4-2 loss the Chicago.
The loss combined with St. Louis’s win at Phoenix left the Predators two points behind the Blues with both teams having a pair of games remaining in the chase for the eight and final Western Conference playoff spot.
The Predators are in Detroit for …

The Nashville Predators amazing run for the NHL playoffs took a beating Tuesday night at the hands of the Chicago Blackhawks, who handed the Preds a 4-2 loss at the Sommet Center.
Two Blackhawk goals in the first fifty second of the second period turned what had been a promising evening into something akin to a funeral wake. The crowd (and the team) was left stunned and never quite recovered.
The game started off well, with the Predators skating with plenty of energy …

After a short night’s sleep, things appear no brighter for the Predators’s playoff hopes. The stark reality of SportClubStats computer which shows that the Preds have a 14.9% chance of making the playoffs makes it clear that there is a about an 85% chance that we’ve seen this year’s version of the Preds on home ice for the last time. If we sweep the final two games, our chances increase to 69.6%, but that is a tall order at this point.
I really wasn’t prepared for the season to end this …
