A-O starts a fire.

You can’t say that Alex Ovechkin isn’t the most entertaining player in the NHL. This guy is the face of the league and the best Russian player since the departure of Pavel Bure. But one has to wonder, did Ovechkin take his antics too far. Some players think it’s great, however, many others have a different opinion on the matter. After scoring his 50th goal of the season against the Tampa Bay Lightning, Ovechkin decided to skate around the back of the net, drop his stick, and dance around it like a caveman who just started a fire. You would think that this kind of celebration belongs in Football, but Ovechkin has brought the art of celebrating to the NHL. In my opinion, I have mixed feelings about his actions. On one hand I love it because it’s who Ovechkin is. He loves to score goals and every time he does he makes it seem like it’s his first. On the other hand, I believe that Ovechkin has crossed the line between a respectable exciting celebration to one that is juvenile and insulting to the opposing team. I don’t feel that celebrations that include props belong in hockey. It’s one thing to slide on the ice like you’re on a slip and slide or jump into the boards, however, to move around a stick as it were on fire seems a bit too out there for my taste, even if it is Alex Ovechkin.

Ovechkin is the bomb diggity … He can do whatever he likes after he scores … he is definitely the face of the NHL and gives the league more character.
